Saint Manikkavasakar in the Thiruvandapaguthi extols Lord Siva as the concordant melody in the Vina and of its arcane virtue He alone is aware.

Not only Saint Manikkavasakar, the other great Saiva saints also extols Lord Siva and His skill in strumming Vina in their hymns. The Vina played by the God is also glorified by the Saints as beautiful one, tuneful Vina, it has three kinds of pann, filled with melodies, known for its different sweet melodies, has seven fold music, imports the virtues of Vedas. As extolled by the Saiva Saints a Vinadhara Dakshinamurthy is seen in the Sadaiyarkoil at Thiruchchennampundi.

Tiruchchennampundi is a small hamlet in Budalur Taluk of Thanjavur district. It is about 36kms from the district headquarters Thanjavur and situated on the land stretch formed between the rivers Cauvery and Kollidam. The inscriptions mention the God as Thirukadaimudi Mahadevar, and the village as Thirukadaimudi, however at present, the deity and temple is known as Sadaiyar and Sadaiyarkoil whereas the village as Thiruchinampundi or Thiruchchennampundi. Thirukkadaimudi Mahadevar Temple is an Early Chola temple dedicated to Lord Siva in the name Tirukadaimudi Mahadevar. The Goddess of the temple is Seethambika.

The temple consists of a dvitala vimana, mukha mandapa and the remnant basement of a mahamandapa. The temple is known for its rich architecture and sculptures, especially the miniatures in the galapadas and vedipadas are remarkable to mention. The miniatures in the gala section of adhishthana depicts the narrative Ramayana series. Nearly thirty five epigraphical records are copied from this temple. Inscriptions of Pallavas, Muttaraiyas, Cholas are found in this temple. Except ten, the rest of the inscriptions belongs to Cholas, major of the records belongs to Maduraikonda koparakesari Parantaka I.

Lord Vinadhara Dakshinamurthy is seen in the southern koshtha of the vimana as a bas-relief sculpture, however, much mutilated. The God is standing with His right leg in sama, left leg in trysra that creates a slight leaning of the upper body towards left. His back hands are in kataka and carry akshamala in the right and flame in the left, whereas his front hands strumming the vina. Vina is much mutilated only trace of the instrument is seen, however, it shows the instrument a long stalk extending diagonally from shoulder to waist. The left hand of the God hold the upper part of the Vina whereas His right hand handle lower part of the instrument.

The God is lavishly ornamented, His locks are gathered as jatabhara and decked with head patta, skull and datura flower. The ears are elongated and decked with patra kundala in the left. Stone studded pendant neck ornament, keyura, kankanas, udarabanda and hip ornament are adorned by him. The yajnopavita is worn in the upavita fashion. The God is draped in short attire, fastened by simhamukha kachchu, the excess girdle of the hip belt is bow knotted in the center. In addition, the idaikkattu is slackly worn with heavy knots on either side. The God lavishly decked with ornaments, in stylish poise handling vina with slight grin adds elegance to the deity.

The youthful stature and stylish poise of Thiruchchennampundi Vinadhara Dakshinamurti reminds the words of Saint Gnanasambandar

‘காண்பரி தாயவர்  மாண்பமர் தடக்கையில் மழலை வீணையர்’
